The Recirculation Control Valve for Boiler Feedwater Pump in Thermal Power Plant
The fuction of a boiler feedpump recirculation valve is to insure that adequate flow is maintained throught the boiler feedpump to prevent overheating of the pump and cavitation. The pump manufacturer calculates the minimum flow required to prevent the risk of premature pump failure due to bearings overheating and seizure or excessive thermal expansion of impeller blades. A minimum flow through the boiler feedpump also protects against erosion and instability caused by cavitation at low flow conditions. Because the highest pressure in a power plant is produced at the boiler feedpump discharge, this equipment has the highest damage potential.
The valve applys to the severe fluid condition of high-preesure-drops between inlet and outlet side on the pipeline.
